On November 16, 2021, a special event titled "Apnu Uttarakhand" was held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the establishment of Uttarakhand. The event, attended by Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra, highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand through a unique musical presentation.
The centrepiece of the program was a single song that beautifully captured the essence of Uttarakhand’s folk culture. This song featured stanzas in different dialects of Uttarakhand, showcasing the state’s linguistic diversity and traditional heritage. The performance was accompanied by traditional musical instruments native to Uttarakhand, adding authenticity to the presentation.
Prominent artists such as Basanti Devi Bisht, a Padmashree awardee, along with Shristi Kala, Aman Raturi, Vikas Bhardwaj and others performed folk songs that reflected the cultural richness of the region. The Governor felicitated all the performing artists for their exceptional contributions, celebrating their role in preserving and promoting Uttarakhand’s cultural legacy. The event was a memorable occasion that not only marked 21 years of Uttarakhand’s statehood but also honoured its vibrant and diverse cultural traditions.
